Payment and delivery
Sattva Indigo is a single-ingredient botanical hair dye for darkening hair and creating brown to black shades in combination with henna. The pack contains 150 g of powdered indigo leaves, ready to mix with water.
Although the packaging may call it “Henna Indigo”, this product contains pure indigo. Henna is purchased separately when needed for your chosen colouring routine.
Indigo does not lighten hair. On grey, white, blonde or bleached hair, applying indigo alone can leave blue or green tones. A strand test is essential before colouring your whole head.

The steps below follow the instructions on this pack. For a two-step routine, complete the henna stage first, following the instructions for that product.
Always read the instructions supplied with your pack. Carry out a strand test and follow the pack’s skin-sensitivity testing instructions before use. Natural ingredients can still cause allergic reactions. Avoid contact with eyes.
Can I use indigo powder for grey hair?
Indigo can be used as part of a two-step henna and indigo routine for grey hair. Pure henna creates a warm base before the indigo stage. Using indigo alone on grey or white hair can produce blue or green tones rather than an even brown or black.
What is the right henna and indigo ratio?
There is no single ratio that guarantees the same shade on every head of hair. Your starting colour, previous treatments and the proportions of the powders all matter. Test your chosen mixture on a strand first. For a ready-mixed brown shade, consider Sattva Nut Brown or Dark Brown.
Is indigo the same as black henna?
Indigo and henna are different plants. This product contains Indigofera tinctoria; pure henna contains Lawsonia inermis. “Black henna” is an ambiguous name, so check the ingredients rather than relying on the shade name.
Is Sattva Indigo PPD-free?
Yes. Its declared formula contains only indigo leaf powder, with no PPD or ammonia. This does not mean that allergic reactions are impossible.
When should I judge the final colour?
Allow approximately 48 hours after rinsing before assessing the finished shade. The colour can change during this time.
Can I bleach my hair after using indigo?
Avoid bleaching or chemically lightening indigo-coloured hair, as it can produce persistent green tones. Tell your hairdresser that you have used indigo before any later colour treatment.
