Sattva Pure Henna consists entirely of powdered Lawsonia inermis leaves. Mixed with water, this natural hair dye gives the hair warm copper to copper red tones and shine. The shade is labelled “Pure Red” on the pack.

The colour you see depends on your starting shade. Light or blonde hair can develop a more vivid copper result. Brown and dark hair tend to show warmer copper or mahogany reflections. Grey strands may become noticeably brighter and more copper-coloured than the rest of the hair. Pure henna does not lighten your natural colour.

How to use

1. Wash your hair with a silicone-free shampoo.
2. Mix the powder with water at about 50 °C, using a powder-to-water ratio of 1:3, to form a smooth paste. Leave the paste to rest for 30 minutes.
3. Put on gloves and apply evenly in sections, from roots to ends.
4. Cover with a cap and wrap in a towel to keep warm. Leave on for 2–3 hours.
5. Rinse with warm water. Avoid shampoo for the next 48 hours while the final colour develops.

Carry out a skin sensitivity test and a strand test before colouring. Follow the instructions on your pack.

Frequently asked questions

What does pure henna look like on dark hair?
Expect warm copper or mahogany reflections rather than the brighter copper result possible on light hair. Henna cannot turn a dark starting colour into a light copper shade.

Can I use pure henna on grey hair?
Yes. Grey hair can become a vivid copper shade and stand out against darker lengths. For a brown result, pure henna can be used as the first step before a suitable brown henna-and-indigo blend. Test both steps on a strand first.

How long does henna hair dye last?
How long the shade remains noticeable varies with your starting colour, hair condition and washing routine. A fixed number of weeks or washes cannot be promised. Allow the colour to develop for 48 hours before assessing the initial result.
